DACT was asked by a Chester-based building company to remove and dispose of asbestos roof sheets at a property in North Wales, on behalf of the homeowner.
After discovering asbestos on three separate outbuildings, the construction team made the decision to halt the job so the substance infamous for its dangers to human health could be removed safely – preventing the potential release of asbestos fibres.
If it isn’t damaged or disturbed, it shouldn’t pose too much risk. However, exposure to asbestos fibres can harm the lungs and cause serious conditions, such as asbestosis and mesothelioma.
Our asbestos removal service starts with a free consultation.
After having an initial chat with the builders about the asbestos sheets they found, we arranged a convenient time with the homeowner so we could visit and assess the situation in full.
Our asbestos specialists performed a thorough inspection of the site and noticed a small pile of asbestos away from the buildings. We offered to remove this at no extra cost to the customer.
Samples were obtained and tested at the laboratory to confirm the presence and type of asbestos, so we knew exactly what we were dealing with.
During our discussion with the homeowner, we agreed to remove the plasterboard ceiling from one of the outbuildings, as well as the asbestos roof – leaving the stone roof caps for the new roof.
Once we had removed and wrapped the ceiling and sheets, we performed one final check for any missed asbestos-containing materials (ACMs).
Usually, we would arrange for a skip to be delivered to the premises beforehand – but given the narrow country roads leading to the property, we realised this would prove difficult.
Therefore, we used one of our licensed vehicles to safely transport the bagged material from all three roofs (plus the additional ACMs we found) to the certified asbestos disposal depot.
